Freescale's LS1 Gets 64 Bits

Once an exclusive feature of servers, workstations, and supercomputers, 64-bit CPUs are now spreading even to some low-end embedded processors. Freescale's new QorIQ LS1043A and LS1023A are the first 64-bit chips in the entry-level LSI series. They integrate up to four ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs with a cryptography engine, packet acceleration, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, and DDR4 memory control. Despite their maximum target clock frequency of 1.5GHz, they consume only 8W or less-cool enough for fanless systems.
