Methodological Advances In Official Statistics

摘要

Official statistics is statistics with a constraint, determined by the word "Official". This word, or better this constraint, is visible in all the phases of the data production process in a national statistical institute: e.g. the quality of the estimators, their usefulness in understanding what is happening in small territorial units, the necessity to have an "integral" data set unaffected by any kind of mistake or missingness, the idea that only aggregates can be disseminated and the official statistics results cannot be used by intruders to harm individuals' privacy.
