The Democratic Republic of Congo has still not issued a decision regarding the contract for Tenke Fungurume project, majority stakeholder Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold said last week. The project is one of the few large-scale projects in the world with high-grade ore deposits.rn"We're continuing to work with the government on the contract review," Freeport-McMoRan Chairman and CEO Richard Adkerson said in a conference call discussing second-quarter results.rn"There really hasn't been any significant recent activity there. But we've received encouragement from the government to proceed with the project," Adkerson said, adding that the encouragement has come from The DRC president on down to provincial officials.
