Les pathologies associées, ou «morbidités, et le contexte socio-démographique d'un patient sont intuitivement pris en compte dans nos décisions médicales. Ces intuitions contiennent parfois des pièges et, même si la littérature médicale est encore pauvre dans le domaine, il importe de vérifier quelles données y figurent quant à l'impact de «morbidités spécifiques ou de particularités du patient telles que l'âge, le sexe ou l'ethnicité sur les résultats de stratégies diagnostiques ou thérapeutiques.%The comorbidities and the socio-demographic context of a patient are intuitively incorporated into our medical decision making process. This intuition, however, can be misleading; even if only few studies exist in the literature in this field so far, it is of paramount importance to look for the impact of given comorbidities or of socio-demographic particularities such as age, gender or ethnicity on the result of diagnostic or therapeutic strategies.
