A phase difference equation is obtained describing the interference pattern of the initial tuning of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer on the basis of simulating the mutual orientation of wave fronts. The effect of parameters on this tuning is analyzed. A procedure is suggested for computing interferograms for any initial tuning.
