摘要

A fiber-optic method of monitoring flexural strains with the use of fiber-optic waveguides with low relative frequency is proposed. Fiber-optic waveguides that function in a single-mode regime with low relative frequency should be used to measure low-curvature flexural strain. Moreover, a 140-fold increase in the amplitude sensitivity of the waveguide to macroscopic bending is demonstrated. It is shown that zero jump in the indices of refraction at the interface of the waveguide's optical fiber with the external medium must be maintained in order to suppress fluctuations in the dependence of the coefficient of attenuation of the power of the fundamental mode on the bending radius.
