UNE NORME « NATURELLE » POUR LA MÉTHODE DES CARACTÉRISTIQUES EN ÉLÉMENTS FINIS DISCONTINUS: CAS 1-D

We consider for the one dimensional steady transport equation the characteristic method with a pseudo time step k. The unknown is approximated by P_r discontinuous finite elements on mesh J_h. For this method, we exhibit a « natural » norm ‖ ‖_(h,k) for wich we show that the discrete variationnal problem P_h~k is well posed and we give an error estimate. We show that when k goes to zero problem (P_h~k) (resp. the ‖ ‖_(h,k) norm) has as a limit problem ( P_h ) (resp. the ‖ ‖_h norm) associated to the Galerkin discontinuous method.%On considère, pour l'équation de convection stationnaire à une variable, la méthode des caractéristiques de pseudo-pas de temps k avec approximation de l'inconnue par des éléments finis P_r discontinus sur un maillage J_h. On construit, pour cette méthode, une norme « naturelle », notée ‖ ‖_(h,k), pour laquelle on montre que le problème variationnel approché (P_h~k) est bien posé et on obtient une majoration d'erreur. On montre que, quand k tend vers zéro, le problème (P_h~k) (resp. la norme ( ‖ ‖_(h,k)) a pour limite le problème (P_h) (resp. la norme ( ‖ ‖ _h ), associé à la méthode de Galerkin discontinue.
