Cambridge celebrates 75th anniversary of Goldsmiths' Laboratory

The birth of the Department of Metallurgy at Cambridge University took place 75 years ago with the opening of the Goldsmiths' Metallurgical Laboratory in October 1920, funded by a grant of £5,500 from the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. The present Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy celebrated the anniversary of this event with a dinner and open day, held at the end of September.
