Experimental investigation on the seismic behavior of a new-type composite interior wallboard

This study investigates the seismic performance of a new, environmentally friendly gypsum-concrete composite wallboard. The cavities are then filled with concrete to produce a lattice structure with a dense column and girder structure. This promotes ease of positioning of the vertical and horizontal reinforcements and node treatment of the completed structure. The stress mechanism of the dense column composite wallboard filled with concrete was modified to become a load-bearing component with strong transverse stiffness. The seismic performances of three specimens were experimentally evaluated including damage characteristics, load-carrying capacity, ductility, energy dissipation and stiffness degradation. Experimental results indicate that the gypsum wallboard cracks appeared at alater stage than in conventional concrete wallboard. Results were analyzed and compared to those of conventional steel reinforced concrete wallboard. Findings demonstrate that the seismic behavior of the composite interior wallboard was outstanding, and that the ductility of the proposed green wallboard outperformed conventional steel reinforced concrete wallboard.
