The three-dimensional stress concentration in finite thickness LY12-CZ plate with two equal circular holes under tension is investigated by detailed three-dimensional finite element analyses. The effect of plate thickness on the stress concentration factor is studied. The relationship between stress concentration factor and the distance between holes is also analyzed. The plate thickness has pronounced effects on the stress concentration factor especially for the plates with intermediate thickness. Furthermore, the separation between holes has reverse influences on stress concentration factors under different loading conditions, but the stress concentration factors both approach 3.0 as the distance between holes becomes very large.
