Research on damage properties of polyurethane sports venues by the finite element method

摘要

The use of polyurethane materials in the external strengthening of the sports venues has increasedbecause of their mechanical properties and ease of application. The major problems found with thepolyurethane sports venues are the crack failure of the surface layer. In the study, the effects ofdifferent adhesive condition and base layer materials on the surface damage of the polyurethanesports venues were evaluated using the finite element method. The effect of this damage wasanalysed by evaluating the stress-intensity factor at the tip of the first crack. The results showedthat when the first crack of the top layer in the polyurethane sports venues has appeared, it willhardly affect the damage expansion of the surface material whether the structural bonding layerbetween the top and base layer is continuous. The base layer’s materials play an important rolein the damage level of the surface layer.
