Water Conservation and Reuse in Cooling Water Systems

Because of the drought of 1996, the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and the City of San Antonio, Texas, realized the need to foster ideas that would lead to successful conservation programs. SAWS developed the Community Conservation Committee (CCC), which is made up of people representing a variety of interests. CCC developed the Commercial Conservation Programs, which are designed to reduce overall commercial consumption through various incentives.
