Corrosion engineering for marine environments is rich with history and has benefited from contributions from highly respected corrosionists--Davy.rnPourbaix. LaQue-, Morgan, Uhlig, Fontana, Sedriks, and many others. While reflecting on the collected wisdom from these pioneers, one would think thatrnthe answers to all pertinent marine corrosion questions must certainly existrnsomewhere! At a conference or technical meeting, how often does one hear a respected corrosionist proclaimrnthat the answers to many modern corrosion quandaries were known years ago? Why must we relearn the same lessons from decades past?
