摘要

Steel must be protected from corrosion and hydrogenrnembrittlement (HE) during pickling. This workrnexamined the corrosion and HE behavior of carbonrnsteel in 1M hydrochloric acid (HCl). Three organicrninhibitors were used for potentiodynamic testing andrncathodic charging. A correlation between corrosionrnand HE inhibition was established.rnProcesses in which acids play an important part are industrial acid cleaning, oil well acidizing, and acid pickling.' Pickling is the main method of removing rust and scale from steel facilities, but steel must be protected from general corrosion during pickling.
