The temperature dependence of the electrooptic properties of tetragonal lead barium niobate crystals of compositions (Pb_xBa_1-xNb_2O_6 where x=0.50 and 0.57, i.e., PBN50 and PBN57) was measued. For comparison studies, similar measurements were performed on 0.01 mol/100 cerium-doped Sr_0.61Ba_0.39Nb_2O_6 SBN61) single crystals (i.e., SBN61:Ce). Temperature dependences of the piezoelectric d coefficients for SBN61 were measured independently by resonance technique. Both PBN57 have electrooptic (EO) r_13 and r_33 coefficients that are large and are nearly temperature independent compared to the relatively temperature denpendent coefficients found in the case of SNB61:Ce.
