摘要

Optical absorption and emission spectral studies of europium phthalocyanine and europium naphthalocyanines in Nylon and polymethyl metacrylate (PMMA) matrices are reported for the first time. The recorded absorption and emission spectra are analyzed to get the important spectral parameters, such as optical absorption cross section (σ_a), emission cross section (σ_e), oscillator strength (f) of the principal absorption bands, fluorescence band width (Δλ), emission wavelength (λ), radiative decay time (τ) and optical gain (G). Analysis shows that the emission cross section of Pc in nylon is of the same order as that of Nc in PMMA matrix and Pc in borate glass matrix. However, for Nc in PMMA, it is also found that the emission cross section is increased by more than 10~4 times compared to borate matrix. Optical gain is increased very much in Pc-doped nylon as compared to Nc-doped PMMA matrix.
