Texture effect on corrosion behavior of AZ31 Mg alloy in simulated physiological environment

摘要

The texture effect of AZ31 Mg alloy on its corrosion resistance in simulated body fluid (SBF) at 37 ℃ was examined by hydrogen evolution method, polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectrum. It was found that at the early immersion time, the sample with c-axis of most grains normal to the exposed surface exhibited much higher corrosion resistance than the sample consisting mainly of (1010) and (1120) oriented grains. But after about 46 h of immersion, the corrosion rate of both samples was largely reduced, less than 0.011 ml/cm~2/h due to the deposition of a film on surfaces. The profound texture effect on the corrosion resistance in SBF opened a new window to control the corrosion property of Mg alloys for biomedical applications.
