In this study, the two novel microrod-like and microlisianthus-like bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) were synthesized via the low cost and facile liquid phase reaction and hydrothermal synthesis method at low temperature, respectively. The resultant products were characterized by XRD, FE-SEM and TEM, respectively. The degradation efficiencies of Rhodamine B (RhB) could reach to 99% or more under UV light by all synthesized catalysts-Bi2O3 powders, exhibiting great degradation capacity for RhB under simulated sunlight illumination. In addition, the undamped photocatalytic activity after five recycling runs indicates that the products turns out to be promising photocatalysts with wide applications. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V.
