The CuO and Co_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles have been synthesized by low-cost Ocimum sanctum leaf extract mediated microwave-assisted route and solvent free mediated microwave irradiated approach. Then the focus of the present study is to compare the results of two methods.The structure and optical absorption of nanoparticles synthesized in both methods were studied using powdered X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and UV-Visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer. Likewise, the synthesized particles were investigated by using FTIR, SEM and photoluminescence spectra. The evolutionof PXRD analysis indicated that the CuO and Co_(3)O_(4) NPs synthesized in two methods have the small difference in their crystallite size due to quantum confinement effect. The CuO and Co_(3)O_(4) NPs shows optical absorbance in the red shift region with indirectband gap and direct band gap in the blue shift region. From the PL analysis, their intensities indicated the O. sanctum mediated CuO NPs and solvent free mediated Co_(3)O_(4) NPs have less particle size than the nanoparticles synthesized in another method. The variation inthe size of nanoparticles further analyzed and confirmed by their PXRD, EDX results. Therefore, the current study elucidates both green synthesis and solvent-free approach to prepare metal oxide NPs is reliable, cost-effective and efficient.
