摘要

In the present research, the graft copolymerization of Acrlyonitrile (AN) monomer onto food grade polysaccharide, Trigonella foenum-graecum or Fenugreek seed (Fen) mucilage was studied gravimetrically under N_(2) atmosphere. Effect of different reaction parameters on% grafting efficiency and % grafting was studied by performing a set of experiments on ceric ion initiated copolymerization in aqueous medium. Characterization of graft copolymers had done using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscope. Accelerationof thermal decomposition for the main stage has been analyzed quantitatively by thermal gravimetric analysis and activation energy calculations which confirm the need of more energy for grafted mucilage required for major degradation stage by leaving more char than pure mucilage.
