The FAA's Aging Aircraft Nondestructive Inspection Validation Center at Sandia National Laboratories: An Introduction

In these times of budget tightening for both government and private industry, this issue of Materials Evaluation is devoted to describing a cooperative relationship leveraging resources in the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratories. This relationship resulted in a facility whose purpose is to assess technologies intended to enhance the reliability and cost effectiveness of inspection in the civil aviation industry.
