摘要

The validation process model being followed at the Validation Center (Smith et al., 1995) explicitly recognizes that costs and benefits are important components to the acceptance of any NDI process. As a first exercise in combining cost benefit analysis with a reliability assessment we chose the magneto-optic/eddy current imager or MOI (Fitzpatrick et al., 1993). This is a commercially available system that can be applied to aircraft inspections. It, however, was not in widespread use at the time this study was initiated.
