Study of Acoustic Velocity Variations in Line Pipe Steel

摘要

This paper presents a study of velocity variations in line pipe steels and provides a technique for field determination of SV shear wave velocity. Also discussed are tolerances for calibration blocks and the requirement of the established baseline velocity values for the manufacture of probe wedges. A brief discussion of polarization as it relates to acoustics is also provided.
