ASNT's 14th Annual Research Symposium, Albuquerque, New Mexico

ASNT held its 14th Annual Research Symposium from 14 to 18 March 2005 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, bringing together ASNT members from around the world to share recent innovations and developments in research and technology. The symposium featured 62 papers with 19 sessions and 38 exhibitors. The exhibitors presented the latest NDT equipment, supplies and services in the industry. Impressive exhibits, informative presentations and strong attendance helped make the symposium a success. Robert E. Green, Jr., presented the Keynote Address. His presentation was entitled "The Importance of Imaging in Nondestructive Testing" and gave examples of the vast spectrum of applications where imaging dominates and challenges exist for practitioners and researchers to develop more improved techniques. He discussed a number of approaches, including visual testing, photoelasticity holography, vibrothermometry, optical imaging and acoustic microscopy. His presentation was well received by the many people in attendance. Following Green's presentation, the program organizers were recognized. ASNT Chair Joseph Mackin thanked National Program Chair for the Research Symposium Gary L. Workman, of the University of Alabama, for his work in bringing about the meeting and presented him with a plaque recognizing his efforts. Research Program Committee Chair Glenn Light, of the Southwest Research Institute, was also thanked for his help in planning the event.
