In this study, we fabricated the titania/silica composite films modified with silane coupling agent having amino group. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern, scanning electron microscope (SEM) image and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR/ FT-IR) spectrum clearly showed that the obtained films were titania/silica composite films modified with silane coupling agent. The effect of UV light irradiation on fibroblasts on the modified composite films was investigated. For comparison, we also investigated the effect of UV irradiation on fibroblasts using a glass substrate and an unmodified composite film. The number of viable adherent cells on the modified film was higher than that of the glass substrate and the unmodified composite film. It was also found that the cells formed a sheet-like structure, and after UV light irradiation, the cells could be peeled off and collected in the form of a sheet. These mean that the modified composite film can be applied to the scaffold to collect cell sheets.
