To prevent wrong expectations of sound insulation, it is necessary to discuss this topic with all parties involved in the construction. An agreement upon the level of noise protection and a detailed sound insulation concept must be reached at an early planning stage. This agreement should be the basis on which decisions are made regarding the quality of partition elements and flanking components, as well as the connection details. A planning process in favour of a good sound insulation is as important as the supervision of the execution quality (connections details, installations, plaster work, ...) on site. As a principle all services rendered including the documentation (construction site log, images, delivery notes) must be checked before any concealing work is done, as part of the quality assurance during construction. In consideration of all previously named product recommendations the increased protection against air-borne noise according to DIN 4109, supplement 2 , have been verified on a number of construction tests on buildings with monolithic external walls made of POROTON~®-Ob-jektziegel units.
