Pöppelmann Bridge at Grimma -Reconstruction of a listed arched bridge

In August of 2002, extreme flooding destroyed the historic town centre of Grimma, as well as the almost 300 year-old listed arched bridge - known as Pöppelmann's Stone Bridge - across the Mulde River. With a flow volume of up to 2,570 m~3/s the floodwaters undermined several bridge piers of the 7-bay arched bridge. This resulted in the catastrophic partial collapse of the structure.
