Microsoft, Lockheed Join Forces To Integrate Phyisical & Electronic Mail

A giant in the electronic mail industry has joined forces with a giant in the original mail industry in an effort to integrate the two communication forms. Microsoft Corporation has formed an alliance with Lockheed Martin Distribution Technologies that makes the automated sorting of incoming and interoffice mail faster and more accurate by tying together the recipient's physical and virtual address. This Windows software program, called ManageMail, leverages Microsoft's Exchange messaging system and is available on Lockheed Martin's new ST3000 Industrial Sorter System. The ST3000 is specifically designed for sorting incoming and interoffice mixed mail, including letters, flats, courier packets, compact discs, and other items at speeds up to 15,000 items per hour.
