Until relatively recently, most of us only ever considered shooting video on special family occasions or while on holiday. But now that we can do so with a smartphone or digital camera, plus the multitude of social media sites and blogs that let us share video, filming is a daily occurrence. So what of the common camcorder? Just as smartphones have cannibalised the more basic stills cameras, both have eaten into a market the camcorder once dominated. Put simply, is there a need any more for a dedicated video device?
