Slalom skis carve high-tech turns

As a sophomore at the University of Washington in 1964, water-skier Herb O'Brien experimented by carving tunnel designs on the bottom of his wooden slalom water skis. Employing this trick he had seen used by a professional in Florida, O'Brien began to win more with these skis, and interest among other competitors grew. And O'Brien thought that if he used a moldable material such as fiberglass, he could mass produce these designs and start his own business.
