An overview is provided of Web sites offering free, or at least low-cost, resources that can help taxpayers answer their tax preparation questions. One new site this year is CNN/Money, launched last October, with content from the editors of CNN and Money magazine. An easy-to-use site with a large number of resources is TaxPlanet.com - it covers such topics as investments, deductions, credit, real estate, and retirement savings. The Quicken site offers software for purchase and tax preparation online, but also several free resources. The IRS Web site The Digital Daily, currently being redesigned, provides useful advice and easy access to tax forms and instructions. For detailed information on state taxes, there is the US State Tax Resources Site Seeker. For most states, the site includes links to multiple resources.
