We are in the throes of organising our budgeting for the coming financial year at the moment. This, along with some very interesting discussions I have had with friends and colleagues in recent times, has prompted me to think about the value that various members of our society gain from being a part of it. We are a Society of (or collection of) people that are interested in the art and science of lighting. This extends from those that have a passing interest, to those that make a living out of light. There is a mix of people that think about how to use light, (specialist lighting designers, lighting engineers, luminaire designers, architects, landscape architects etc), and those that facilitate the implementation (contractors, manufacturers, suppliers). There are also the optometrists, lecturers, and teachers etc. that also form a vital part of our Society. Each of us has a unique perspective, and value proposition.
