The Islamic Science and Technology Museum

As of May 2008, the Gulhane Park in Istanbul hosts the first Islamic science and technology museum in the world, brought to life by the sponsorship of the Turkish Ministry for Culture and Tourism thanks to the concession by the Greater Istanbul Municipality, the Royal Stables in which the museum is located. The museum presents the contribution of the Islamic culture to the scientific world and general development of modern science. The Historical Islamic Science and Technology Museum, directed by the Minister for Culture and Tourism, was brought to life in collaboration with Turkey's Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK), the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA), the Greater Istanbul Municipality and Professor Fuat Sezgin of Frankfurt University, who have donated materials such as books, designs, maps, equipment and in some cases have even built new models of antique equipment.
