I found James Brodrick's article on the proposed Color Quality Scale ("LED Watch") in the September issue of LD+A a breath of fresh air. I'm an old (85), retired visual psychophysicist-a color scientist. I once ran the Munsell Color Co. then started my own color consulting firm, headed the ASTM committee E-12 on Color & Appearance for 10 years and the Visual Methods subcommittee for even longer, and spent many years at meetings of the ISCC and AIC. When incandescent light sources were augmented by fluorescents, the color rendering problems began. As the number of fluorescent phosphors increased, the problem got worse. When newer sources appeared. . .well, you know the story.
