When it comes to wiring and crimping-even the simple and basic stuff-we often find people blaming a tool as faulty. (The reality is low end tools, bad terminals and poor techniques combine for failure.) So at least three things can go wrong, and we hope to show you the tight way, ridding you of junk tools and components is our primary mission today-and without breaking the bank. Because there is so much important information and this is such a common area (especially for homebuilders who may be wiring entire airplanes) we will cover coax cable and coax crimper problems in an upcoming issue of LPM. Also, be aware that for certified aircraft the non-A&P aircraft owner cannot simply wire away on their airplane without the supervision of an A&P. The preventative maintenance rules specify very limited solo preventative wiring maintenance to landing light wires. Homebuilders have no such limits.
