Avionics corrosion issues are quite prevalent, and prevention should be on every owner's checklist of continuous inspection items. Prevention starts with minimum exposure to moisture. That even includes avionics that may be in storage such as during a long down time or during the building of an airplane. Assuring the use of proper quality cables and connectors, combined with visual inspections of mating connectors such as in mounting trays is well within every owner's capability, as is the checking of antennas and cables for any signs of corrosion or deterioration.
