Ventilation in potrooms has always been a hot issue. Wellrnengineered systems to evacuate the surplus of thermal energyrnfrom the potrooms are mandatory, and should be given thernattention that they deserve. Insufficient ventilation could lead tornoverheating of pots with the accompanying problems.rnSimulations can help in optimising the ventilation and gives betterrnunderstanding of the behaviour of airflows inside the building.rnBesides the main focus on productivity, attention should be givenrnto the exposure of operators to HF concentration, hazardous dustrnand high temperatures. A well designed ventilation scheme canrnhelp to create a healthy and safe environment for these operators.rnAirflows outside the building can be investigated with the samernsimulation technique, providing information about the spreadingrnof contaminated airflows.
