摘要

The aim of aluminium filtration is to remove inclusions such asrnAl3C4. For inclusions to be removed they have to come in closerncontact with the filter walls composed of Al_2O_3 or SiC. It isrntherefore important that the molten aluminium has close contactrnwith the filter wall. In addition to wetting properties betweenrninclusions (Al_4C_3) and molten aluminium, the wettability of thernfilter (SiC) by aluminium is determined in sessile drop studies inrnthe temperature range 1000-1300℃. Wettability changes withrntime in three successive steps and improves with time. Torndescribe wettability at filtration temperatures employed in thernindustry of around 700℃, the results will be extrapolated to thisrntemperature in future work.
