Publikationskompetenz als neues Aufgabengebiet für Bibliotheken: eine australische Fallstudie

Unter Informationskompetenz versteht man heute in der Regel die Suche, Bewertung und Rezeption von Information. In diesem Aufsatz wird argumentiert, dass diese Fähigkeiten um eine aktivere Komponente, nämlich die (Mit-)Produktion von Information, erweitert werden sollte. Unter dem Begriff der „Publikationskompetenz" werden hier das vertiefte Verständnis der neuen (digitalen) Möglichkeiten der wissenschaftlichen Kommunikation sowie die Kompetenz des einzelnen Wissenschaftlers zur Auswahl der für ihn besten Form der Präsentation, Publikation und Verbreitung seiner Resultate und Ideen verstanden. Anhand der Situation an australischen Universitäten wird aufgezeigt, welche Entwicklungen und Bedürfnisse insgesamt dazu beitragen, dass die Publikationskompetenz zunehmend als wichtiger Fokus der wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheksarbeit gesehen werden kann oder soll.%Information Literacy is usually defined by the skills required to search, evaluate and consume information. However, this essay argues that it should be extended to include a more active component, namely the (co-)pro-duction of information. The umbrella term of "publishing literacy" covers the in-depth understanding of new (digital) possibilities of scholarly communication and the skills of the individual researcher to select the best format to present, publish and disseminate his results and ideas. Based on the situation in Australian universities, the author shows which developments and requirements have added to the increasing importance of publishing literacy as a key focus of the work of academic librarians.
