摘要

This confession is going to get me into deep trouble with the conference organizers at the American Library Association (ALA), but... I hate going to the exhibits. In fact, one of my anxiety dreams is being trapped in the basement of a vast, concrete convention center, doomed to perpetual wandering, my only sustenance those awful hard candies from the vendor booths, my feet dying from the wrong choice of shoes. I was discussing this fantasy with a group of librarian friends not long ago and discovered that I am not unique. Furthermore, two of the group had war stories to tell as conference exhibitors. Apparently, being a vendor can be almost as hard, and certainly as boring, as being a conference attendee.
