Industry veteran and librarian Jane Burke has returned to the library technology arena after a two-year hiatus. Serials Solutions June 9 announced that Burke has come onboard as general manager. She also will be a VP in parent company ProQuest. Burke, CEO of Endeavor Information Systems until 2003, says she's "delighted" to be back working with libraries. "It's a wonderful opportunity," Burke told LJ. Since its inception by librarian Peter McCracken in 2000, Serials Solutions has proven to be one of the most innovative companies. "This is not a business that is going to change course,"Burke said. "This is a business that's in very good shape. It's growing, and I'm here to help." As a ProQuest VP, Burke will work toward merging the two companies' strengths. "One of the things we'd like to be doing," she said, "is using the technology tools that Serials Solutions creates and not only offering them to the library market but seeing if there are ways that they can be used with Pro-Quest's content."
