We have been undergoing serious tax and budget cuts that have significantly weakened Florida local governments, the entities that provide public library service. During these challenging times, we have had several instances where LSSI representatives have gone behind the backs of public library directors to city and county administrators and commissions pitching LSSI services (Francine Fialkoff, "The Privatization Threat," LJ 6/1/08, p. 8).
