Encore Synergy from Innovative Interfaces is the latest on the article-level search front. Building on the faceted Encore discovery interface, Synergy adds a section highlighting relevant journal and news articles. In contrast to the aggregate index approach taken by other products in the category, Innovative will use what it calls "Deep Article Integration," linking to up-to-date content indexes via XML web services of its own design. The company says this approach allows it to provide discovery options "specific to the type of material being searched," including limiters for peer review and full text.
