The monosyllable green has taken on new meaning in the general population, to the credit of activists formerly known as natural resources conservationists, ecologists, and advocates of sustainability. This handsomely produced volume-essentially a product catalog-also addresses the role of the designers who produce utilitarian objects that, in their materials and manufacture, are environmentally friendly. Following a brief introduction that defines ecodesign, the first chapter outlines ten approaches to best practices, from minimizing polluting emissions to reducing the amount of material consumed.
