INNOVATION GOES POW: PAPERLESS ONLINE WEEDING

Guy Dobson, now a systems librarian at Drew University Library, Madison, NJ, created an easy-to-use weeding program for library staffers last year, when he worked for the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS), NJ, a group of 74 independent public libraries in Bergen and its neighboring counties. It's called Paperless Online Weeding (POW): an all-in- one weeding program that creates shelf lists by pulling data from the library's SirsiDynix Unicorn database, identifies items ripe for weeding, and allows for easy deletion. But with an upcoming integrated library system (ILS) migration, POW's days may be numbered.
