This work is accessible while providing in-depth information. The fourth edition provides newly researched antiques values in both U.S. dollars and British pounds and an updated directory of places to find antiques. An opening explanatory spread describes how to use the book, and another offers a brief overview of the major decorative styles from the Middle Ages to the present day. Each section of the main text represents either one of the traditional areas of collecting (furniture, ceramics, silver, jewelry, glass, rugs and carpets, textiles, clocks and watches, dolls and teddy bears, toys and games, and Asian works of art) or a popular style (arts and crafts, art nouveau, and art deco).
