Conference Annoyances

In the time I have worked at library journal, I have had the chance to attend many conferences. By and large, the chance to meet people face to face has been a big plus, and there are a lot of interesting panels with smart panelists to listen to. So, I am looking forward to the American Library Association (ALA) conference in Chicago later this month. I also have at times been struck by odd things at conferences, such as the ability of many people to sit in cavernous, soul-destroying, windowless, conference-center rooms on beautiful sunny days. But here are a few other observations and recommendations based on my own inane experiences where conferences, all of them, seem either odd or lacking.
