Emily dickinson nailed it when she wrote, "There is no frigate like a book." Transporting me this month are The Black Hour, Lori Rader-Day's stirring "whydunit" about a campus shooting, from a victim's point of view; Ghost Month, Ed Lin's coming-of-age thriller set in Taiwan; and The Kennedy Connection, R.G. Belsky's conspiracy expose. Perhaps the authorities have closed the books on these cases, but never underestimate an amateur sleuth seeking answers.
