Raum, Macht und soziale Ungleichheit

摘要

The notion of space plays an elementary role in Pierre Bourdieu’s social theory. On the one hand it stands for the constitution and stability of the social order, and on the other for the visibility of social inequality. The social inequalitities existing in the social space engrave themselves into the physical space. The essay presents Bourdieus understanding of space and discusses the question, whether the physical space can really be understood as a reflection of the social space.
