Telefonica says 90 percent of broadband users to have 1Mbps by year-end

According to Brazil s arm of Telefonica, by the end of 2007, out of ten customers, nine will be able to have download speeds of 1 Mbps. Telefonica Brasil is spending $274 million so that its customers will be able to access high speeds, as currently a mere 13 percent of its customer base has 1 Mbps connections. The company s move will also aid its quest to launch IPTV in the country.
